Visitor to the Cairn

This is a girl you're likely to see a lot of.  Her name's Ayalessa, and she's my main character on World of Warcraft.  She's a very common figure in my renders, along with a few of my other characters and those of my loved ones and friends.

If you're familiar with the game you'll recognise her as a female blood elf (sin'dorei).  She's quite young and rather alarmingly clever but has an unfortunately blunt manner.

When I did this render I had recently finished the White Cairn picture you can see in the header above.  It's make of thirty five individually shaped, rotated and placed rock props, along with a base and a smattering of forget-me-nots.  I wanted to put someone in the picture to give some kind of perspective in terms of size; the rocks looked positively massive and the forget-me-nots didn't (to my mind) scale things down too much.

Aya possibly wasn't the best choice in that regard, though, because she's unusually short for her race - 5'3", in fact.  She's short for a human, let alone a blood elf.  But still you get the idea.  It's not a huge cairn.

She is indeed wearing modern (non-WoW) clothing.  Why?  Two reasons.  Firstly, it's cute, and aesthetic appeal is one of the core purposes of art (and in this case the aesthetic intent is to portray a girl looking cute; no, it's not a very complicated motive but there you go).  Secondly I'd never used that particular outfit before and I was scrolling through my content looking for something to put her in and thought, 'You know what?  Why not.'

The light on Aya is a bit strong in this picture.  It washes her out a little and I'm not tremendously pleased with that.  It's easily fixed but frankly I couldn't be bothered.  It's a throwaway render, not really worth obsessing over.
