Character Study: Ayalessa Leannen Winterfall

Last night I sat down and whipped up a new White Cairn Designs background to use with some of my art pieces.  I had in mind the idea of using them to make portraits, character studies and the like, to give them a nice cohesive feel and a recognisable look.

I give you the Character Study.  This one, predictably, is of Ayalessa Winterfall.  I'm very happy with how she turned out.

This entire piece was done with no postwork - but it was done with prework.  The background was imported into Daz Studio and I must say it saves a load of time and bother.  I'm not a fan of postwork - at all - so any such work I can avoid the better.

Having said that I'm also very interested in the details of renderworks.  I tend to obsess over them.  It's taken ages for me to track down the right morphs and settings to get the high/blood elven ears looking the way I like them, for example.  There aren't any ears out there, free or paid, that I've found that have the look I wanted.

But there are a lot of resources for the aspiring artist and the program itself is flexible enough that you can achieve a surprising range of effects by combining morphs and dial spins so, after finding some ear morphs and fiddling with the Morph++ settings in Victoria 4 (oh yes, she's a V4 model, not Aiko 4 or anything) I finally got ears that look good on both male and female blood elves.  Hooray!

Anyway, enjoy.  I'll be posting more character studies when I get them done, as well as other projects.
